THCA Board takes position on Renaming Of Arena

As the clocked ticked 4:24, April 23,  THCA Board’s position on the renaming of the Merivale Centennial Area was forwarded to the offices of the City’s Deputy Clerk and Councillor Keith Egli.  Despite many other institutions also carrying this name Merivale, the Arena was a centennial project with fundraised monies coming from Cityview and Manordale and others.

The Association was mindful of the views of fellow members of the Knoxdale-Merivale Council and the Federation of Citizens Associations. For a variety of reasons, representatives of these organizations favor leaving commemorative named public spaces as is. New public spaces can carry the name of newly recognized people.
