CPO Speaker- Series Romance Fraud
“I love you.” Three simple words uttered online can sometimes mean the beginning of a painful journey for victims of romance fraud. This speaker series event will shed light on a growing problem-and the serious consequences it raises for those affected.
Romance fraud takes place when a scammer poses as someone looking for love on a dating site or social network using a fake profile. Scammers weave a false story, ask plenty of questions and quickly profess their love. Soon, they’re asking for money and the victims give away thousands of dollars before realizing the whole relationship is a scam.
