Sexual Assault Information

The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is investigating the report of a sexual assault that occurred in a private home near the intersection of Cedarview Drive and Maravista Drive in Barrhaven on November 25, 2014, shortly after 7:30pm.

In the early evening, a woman in her twenties was in her home when an intruder entered the residence through an unlocked front door. The woman was sexually assaulted inside her home, and the male suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect, who had a knife and wore a disguise over his face, was described as 5’8″ (173 cm) thin build, wearing a grey hoodie, black athletic pants and runners. He may have had tanned colored skin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section at 613-236-1222 ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477(TIPS), toll free at 1-800-222-8477 or by downloading the Ottawa Police iOS app.’
I recommend residents keep their doors locked while they are inside the home. Before unlocking and opening the door to anyone who knocks, first take a look and see who is actually at the door. If you do not recognize the person and you do not feel comfortable opening the door, then simply do not open the door. If you fear for your safety or the person on the other side looks suspicious, then please call police at 613-230-6211. If any person ever tries to gain entry to your home, please immediately call 911.
