There had been a rash of theft of vehicles taken from lane ways – this mostly occurred in the east of Ottawa, however, one from Barrhaven as they may start to move this area.

The following vehicles that had been stolen:

Lexus GX460

Toyota Tacoma
Toyota Tundra
Toyota Highlander
Toyota 4Runner
Toyota FJ Cruiser

All vehicles were 2015/2016 year model.

The thefts appear to occur during the week during the overnight hours. I would ask everyone to pay attention to suspicious vehicles idling in residential areas overnight. Please pay special attention to Quebec plated vehicles/ likely rentals. Be aware that the suspected stolen vehicles may be followed by another vehicle involved in dropping drivers off.

The method of operation is usually a group of 2 or 3 individuals, travelling together and using a computer hardware to start the vehicle. The process normally takes less than 20 minutes to accomplish.
