Keep Intake & Exhaust Vents Clear
As snow builds up around your home, don’t forget to keep these air vents clear. These vents go to/from your natural gas fed furnace and hot-water heater. Without free flowing ventilation, carbon monoxide (CO) can build up inside your home, the consequences of which could be fatal.
The burning of natural gas produces both CO and water. Furnace/Heater exhaust gases are vented outside via a PVC pipe which are typically two or more feet above grade. New models of furnaces are factory programmed to automatically shut off when CO levels are higher than usual within your home.
