What is the point of a Little Free Library?

The mission is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a community network of volunteer-led Little Free Library book exchange boxes.

The Little Free Library is a good opportunity to teach children about reusing items while also increasing the number of books they can get access to. Parents are also encouraged to drop off books that their children are no longer using, giving other children the same chance to enjoy them.

Each Little Free Library has a primary caretaker. The caretaker takes care of basic maintenance like keeping the library clean and inviting, but it is up to everyone who uses the library to keep it stocked with good books.
